Network Marketing: What Is An "Opt-In" List?

An opt-in list is a listing of compiled email addresses of recipients that have given the opt-in list owner permission to email them with information that pertains to what they opted-in the list for.

Opt-in lists are generally subject oriented lists of email addresses. You do not want to send email to an opt-in list with information that doesn't pertain to the subject matter for which they have opted-into the list for. Otherwise, you could lose a lot of subscribers and your message could be considered spam.

Example: If you mail an opt-in list that is considered a "Business Opportunity List" you want to send them information on "Business Opportunities" or something pertaining to making their business better. A message sent on toys will get an unfavorable response. Thus, a great deal of people will opt-out of your list because you strayed too far away from the subject matter they opted-in to your list for in the first place.

You must always stick to the "Subject Matter" for which they have opted-in your list. If you send a message that is a border line subject, make sure you tie the subject matter of the list into how they can benefit from your message. Otherwise, you will get hammered with an unfavorable response and get blamed for spamming them which could get you in trouble.

Remember: "Your Audience Is The King!" Serve them well and they will give you the keys to wealth and happiness.
